Freudenstadt-Lauterbad (Germany)
The VIHKOS CORSIKA School is intended to provide PhD students and researchers the knowledge needed to simulate and understand extensive air showers and inclusive particle fluxes. Emphasis is put on pedagogical introductions to the physics and phenomenology of cosmic ray showers, inclusive muon and neutrino fluxes, and hadronic interaction models as well as technical aspects of CORSIKA. In addition the application of CORSIKA in a number of representative cosmic ray experiments will be discussed including related problems in simulation and data interpretation. The School will close with a discussion of the user needs and plans for the future development of CORSIKA.
The school is organized within the Virtual Institute for High Energy Cosmic Radiation, VIHKOS, which is funded by the Helmholtz Association.
The language of the presentations will be English.
Location: Waldhotel "Zollernblick", Am Zollernblick 1, D-72250 Lauterbad, Germany
Dates: May 31, 16:00 begin of School; June 5, 14:00 end of School
The deadline for the registration is January 28, 2005. Early registration is strongly advised as the number of participants is limited to 80.
